چکیده
After the publication of this work [1], it was brought to the authors’ attention that the author list on the final manuscript was incomplete. It read as Samir Sulemane, Vasileios F. Panoulas, Klio Konstantinou, Athanasios Bratsas, Frederick W. Tam, Edwina A. Brown and Petros Nihoyannopoulos. The correct author list should have included Dr Graspa and is now included here. Samir Sulemane, Vasileios F. Panoulas, Klio Konstantinou, Athanasios Bratsas, Julia Graspa, Frederick W. Tam, Edwina A. Brown and Petros Nihoyannopoulos.

Left ventricular twist mechanics and its relation with aortic stiffness in chronic kidney disease patients without overt cardiovascular disease
BACKGROUND Recent studies hypothesized left ventricular (LV) twist as a potential biomarker for evaluation of sub clinical myocardial disease, however its relationship with aortic stiffness has yet to be investigated. Chronic kidney disease (CKD) has been identified as a risk factor for both myocardial and arterial disease. As such we sought to explore the relationship between aortic stiffness ...
متن کاملCorrelation between the Level of Creatinine, Serum Cardiac Troponines and Left Ventricle Function Tests in Patients with Chronic Renal Diseases without Acute Coronary Syndrome
Background and Objectives: The aim of this study was to survey the relationship between the level of creatinine, cardiac troponins serum and the function of the left ventricle in patients with kidney insufficiency, without acute coronary syndrome. Materialsand Methods:The sample was150 patients with nondialysis chronic kidney disease without acute coronary syndrome, hospitalized at I...
متن کاملEffect of spironolactone on left ventricular mass and aortic stiffness in early-stage chronic kidney disease: a randomized controlled trial.
OBJECTIVES We sought to determine whether the addition of spironolactone to angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors and angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs) improves left ventricular mass and arterial stiffness in early-stage chronic kidney disease (CKD). BACKGROUND Chronic kidney disease is associated with a high risk of cardiovascular disease and a high prevalence of left ventricular...
متن کاملThe importance of accurate measurement of aortic stiffness in patients with chronic kidney disease and end-stage renal disease
Cardiovascular (CV) disease is the leading cause of death in chronic kidney disease (CKD) and end-stage renal disease (ESRD). A key driver in this pathology is increased aortic stiffness, which is a strong, independent predictor of CV mortality in this population. Aortic stiffening is a potentially modifiable biomarker of CV dysfunction and in risk stratification for patients with CKD and ESRD....
متن کاملCARDIOVASCULAR MEDICINE Relation between aortic stiffness and left ventricular diastolic function in patients with hypertension, diabetes, or both
Objective: To evaluate aortic function and its relation to left ventricular diastolic function in patients with hypertension, diabetes, or both, without coronary artery disease. Methods: Study groups were composed of 27 healthy participants and 25 patients with hypertension, 24 with diabetes, and 18 with hypertension and diabetes. Coronary artery disease was excluded in all of the study partici...
